Death to SOPA/PIPA
There has been a lot of talk about SOPA and PIPA lately over the internet, at the school I attend and in public. If anyone does not know what those two things are, a quick google search and you’ll see that they are anti piracy and copyright protection legislature that is being discussed in congress in the U.S.
Originally I wasn’t going to make a post about this. I figured the issue was beat to death and that everyone knew pretty much what was going on and there was no need to be another person added to the list.
I also thought that these two bills would only affect those in the United States. Obviously I’m wrong on both counts. SOPA and PIPA are important to fight against because they threaten a free internet and our ability to create, share and express ourselves.
I don’t know everything there is to know about SOPA and PIPA but the important point is that I’m learning, discussing and going out of my way to become educated and informed so I can help make a difference. What is happening now is not only historic but important to everyone across the entire world. If this ever gets passed it will change the way our freedom will be established.
Not only that, but it will also affect the gaming industry. From everything from user created content in video games (Little Big Planet), to youtube walkthroughs and montages, to even using characters on sugar ice cream birthday cakes. The industry will clamp down and hold onto every single license they can because they’re afraid we’re all pirates and thieves.
But not only that we will no longer be creating anything on the internet, but just consuming like fat cows because thats how the companies want us. They want to feed us at high prices and keep us wanting to eat.
